No country worth fighting for on earth was built without the selfless sacrifice of those who had gone before on battle fields, against all odds sometimes, shedding their blood and giving up their precious lives so that the safety of a nation and freedom of people would be insured for the generations to come in the future. We are all beneficiaries of those individuals from the past and the present, directly or indirectly, and I for one know all too well that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. 

Not too many of us remember the Korean War (1950-1953) or know what it was exactly; but I have a mom who lived through it, and the echos of some tragic  stories she told me still reverberate in my head in more  personal ways than others. I and some members of my own family got to meet a few then-octogenarian Korean War veterans some years ago..

Then, I stayed up wide-eyed in wonderment through the initial stages of the Desert Storm (Gulf War, 1990-1991) as Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf became my instant  favorite war hero..Shortly after moving to Louisville, KY I and Victoria  visited Fort Knox twice to pay a tribute to Gen. Patton, one of my favorite generals of all time; however, the Gen. Patton Museum of Leadership was still going through renovation project, and I and Victoria were denied an access to inside..I have a nephew whose father was a godson of Major General Edwin Walker; my nephew was actually named after the general..

I have another nephew who is still serving in the military, over in Europe now, after commanding a largest military hospital on the West Coast at Madigan..More than anything, ultimately, we are all soldiers of Christ; let's not forget that faithful task, and keep marching on until the D-Day, the Day of the Lord, when we will meet Him in Glory and Power. Amen.
