Starting in the afternoon the 1st squadron began to spread the malicious rumors that "Airborne troopers ripped off the panties and bras of three female students who appeared to be Ewha Womans University students, kicked them in the buttocks with their feet, and stabbed them in the back with a bayonet", "Airborne troopers hung a man upside down from a telephone pole in front of Suchang Elementary School in Gwangju.", "Yesterday, 40 protest students were killed and Geumnam-ro became a bloodbath," and "The airborne soldiers killed all the young people and joked that it was okay to kill 70% of Gwangju's residents and how many dogs they caught."
